I’m often asked about repeating numbers.  Here are my thoughts about the significance of the repeating number 11, whether you see it on a clock, whether it’s the date 11/11, or anywhere else that 11 pops up (an address, license plate . . . you name it).

In Numerology, the 11 is a Master Number.  So what does that mean?  Master numbers are repeated numbers (11, 22, 33, and so on).  Master numbers contain what I’d call a higher spiritual vibration, for lack of a better term.  If you have a Master Number as one of your core numbers in your chart, for example, it indicates that you have a higher level of potential and also a greater amount of challenges.  So while working with Master numbers might feel oh-so lofty, it actually is a tough row to hoe.  It comes with added intensity and additional obstacles.  The Master number is actually asking you to master your life in particular ways.

So with that said, what’s the 11 specifically all about?

First of all, the number 1 is all about new beginnings, independence, initiative, achievement, individuation, self-confidence, and innovative creativity.

So when you see this repeating number, remind yourself to focus on what you WANT in your life rather than what you DON’T WANT.

Because the energy of the number 1 expands what you’re focused on.  When you see this repeating number, it’s indicating that a window of opportunity is being flung open for you – with this energy in your court, you’ll begin to manifest your thoughts and desires into reality with turbo-speed.  Be disciplined and mindful about how you focus your thoughts!  If there’s any time to dive into your positive affirmation file, this is the time.  Don’t waste this valuable and high-powered energy.

The 11 is the higher level 2 energy.  The number 2 is all about harmony, balance, cooperation, diplomacy, and love.  Then add the Master Number and up the ante:  the 11 is the number of the Wounded Healer.  The 11 is highly intuitive, extremely sensitive, out-of-this-world artistically creative, and an inspired healing agent.  The 11 lives mostly in the ethers and part of the struggle with the 11 energy is to bring it down to earth in a way that is useful and constructive rather than diffuse and destructive.

The 11 can bring an extremism to it that can be difficult to contain.  Part of the challenge of the 11 is learning to align the personal will and sense of being with divine will or the higher realms.  Those with 11’s in their charts will undeniably encounter experiences and situations in their lives that are harrowing, difficult, and extreme.  The reason for this is because experience isn’t the best teacher, it’s the only teacher.  The person who’s mastering the 11 energy will come through the fire as an inspired healer and wise counselor.  Yet it takes walking the walk and talking the talk to get to the point of mastery.

Many say that when you see the repeating number 11:11 – when you look at the clock, for example – it’s a message from The Universe (or God, Angels, or whatever you believe in the spiritual realms).

When you see this number, it’s the Universe tapping you on the shoulder and giving you a solid “thumbs up!”

It’s beneficial to stop for a moment when you see this number and notice what you’re doing right then and there.  What exactly were you thinking about?  Were you pondering what you’re going to have for dinner, replaying the last conversation with your Mother when you got really angry with her, or are you contemplating this new job you’ve been thinking about?

Often this is an opportunity to enjoy some kudos from Universal forces as they acknowledge that you’re on the right track.

As for the date 11/11, this can also be seen as an opening, as a doorway so to speak.  This also applies to the 11:11.  If you look at the numbers, you can see this visual representation – each 11 looks like a door.  The two doors can be seen as an intersection between the physical world and the spiritual world.

You can also be sure that when you see this number sequence, you’re receiving an affirmation that you’re moving forward with your higher purpose in life.  Since the 11 is all about spiritual enlightenment, you can use its energy for understanding and manifesting your higher purpose in life.  It’s an indicator that you’re on the right track – it’s your ultimate spiritual cheerleader.  It’s also reminding you to pay attention to your thoughts, because our thoughts create our personal world.

Have you ever noticed that people who complain all the time seem to have more and more things to complain about everyday?  Isn’t is amazing how so many terrible things happen to complainers?  This is a “no-duh,” really, and yet a gentle reminder.  We attract what we are.  Not what we wish we were or think others should be doing to make our lives better, but what we actually are.  11:11 is reminding you to clean up your thought regime.  The results are amazingly powerful.

You can say that seeing 11:11 is a wake up call gently reminding you to polish and define your thoughts and then act upon your desires in a real, practical, and material way.  For instance, say you’re considering taking this class that you really want to take because it’ll help you gain new skills and knowledge about developing a new business that you can’t stop thinking about.  The problem is, you’ve been thinking about this for more than a year.  It would be a financial commitment that would put you in debt.  You’re not sure you could really develop a successful business and all your issues about that keep you clocking into your 9 to 5 job every day because it pays the bills.

So then you start seeing 11:11.  At first you don’t really notice it, yet after several weeks, you’re noticing that you see this repeating sequence at least once or twice a day.  You then begin to stop and acknowledge exactly what you were thinking about when you looked up and saw 11:11 on the clock.  And “wa-la!”  You’re consistently thinking about that darned business idea!

In this case, if seeing the repeating numbers resonates with you, this is your “Cosmic Slap In The Face” to GO FOR IT.   It doesn’t mean quit your job and go about it in an irresponsible way, yet it does mean that the Universe is supporting your idea and your efforts and that if you make up your mind that you’re starting a plan of action, chances are you’ll be surprised at how many unexpected things happen that’ll support you in making your dream a reality.

The bottom line:  When you repeatedly see the numbers 11:11, in whatever manifestation or configuration, it’s time to focus your intentions on what you really, really want!  Clean up your thoughts.  Focus on a practical plan to get where you want to go, even if it scares you to consider that your dreams really can become your reality.  You simply have to really, really, REALLY believe that it’s possible and then act with conviction.

The 11:11 is your Cosmic Cheerleader, your Supportive Parent, your Cosmic Best Friend – its only purpose for being is to alert you to keep going for it and to assure you that you’re on the right track.  So don’t waste time and energy lolly-gagging around.  Seeing 11:11 is giving you a Cosmic shove off the ledge.  And all day on 11/11 make sure to focus your thoughts, think big, and see what opportunities open up to you.
